It depends. Some can't understand why people charge for such services and admittedly many such spell casters are scam artists. I can't recall the exact path but I once heard that one branch of magick requires those practicing it to have an exchange of some form of goods for their spell casting services. Some spell casting involves very elaborate rituals. As such some people charge for the materials but leave off charges for time spent, services rendered, etc...and can even refer to themselves as a free spell caster because of the technicality that the actual spell casting is performed for free. From what I've observed in the past those who only charge for materials are actually higher than average spell casters.

I can appreciate those rare people who offer "true" free spell casting as some can't afford such services, though spells are much more effective when you cast your own, and I can understand why some people dislike the idea of paying for such services as sometimes they don't realize the work involved or are concerned over being scammed. In the end it depends on a combination of your personal moral views and goal, such as if your casting spells out of a desire to help people, and your monetary state, such as spending a large amount of money on materials. I'm sure there are various opinions on this and if you can't infer it from my post I'm on the fence as this is more of a moral or opinion question and I appreciate both views. Obviously the question reversed of whether or not you should pay someone is much easier to answer, but I'm sure you'll get many replies to this question.

I myself believe if you know how to cast spells you shouldn't charge others. I also don't believe one should pay for someone to cast a spell for them when they can do it themselves. Since everyone here is already on the topic of magic, then I'm pretty sure you are already introduced to it and can learn for yourself. But, people always want things just given to them on a silver platter instead of doing the work, it's sad. Back to charging people to cast spells for them. I believe when someone comes to you, they need help with their life, wheather it be love, money, protection, etc. Charging them is taking advantage, so why not do a good deed and help them out and god will return the favor with great karma. Of course I'm not saying help every single person, but those who really need help. Also, I don't know whats your stance on black magic and hexes, but be careful some people just want to cause havoc and it's going to come back at you full force.

Blessed be.

hello everyone,

I'm new to our coven, however I think you should charge, depending on how much work you put into it. Spell casting drains the energy out of me, so much that at times I don't recover for days. Now if someone can offer advice on how to protect yourself while casting so that you don't get completely empty and drained afterwards? help???

I agree with Whichwitch we do become exhausted and how it does take time to recover. What I don't agree with is charging, because we made a conscious decision to open ourselves and or to be used by the Divine Gods and Goddesses to preform. It is through Them our work. So I believe The Credit and or the Thanks belong to them Alone.

Thank You Tara; and Thank You also Caleb; for sharing Your good advice/tips. I love how some of Us are willing to put Ourselves out here, for the benefit of others. Because after all not 1 of Us are perfect and how We do need to rely on each other from time to time.

I see it as a form of prostitution, but i might be weird. I went to beauty school for 3 years. Took every class. Won awards. Was the teachers pet for massage. Owe ten grand in student loans...and decided this was not the career for me as people did not appreciate what i did enough and the amount of money didnt make up for it. It felt like i was selling myself and i couldnt do it anymore after 3yrs. What with all the chemicals and such.
