Inner Child

make sure you gather a pad of lined paper and a pen.

  • Sit in meditation posture in a quiet space. Light a candle or incense to help you focus. Meditate on your breath for a few minutes to calm your mind.
  • Divide your pad of paper into two columns. At the top write PARENT. And on the other Column write CHILD. Now imagine you are your own parent and ask your child what they are feeling what they need right now. Write this down under parent.
  • Shift your mental mind and become the child. From this you will answer your parent. Write as much as you want. Shift back and forth from the parent and child answering. If your child is angry with you as a parent ask what you can do to take care of them. If you as the child is sad. Ask them why they are and get to the root of the problem. Have the dialogue last no longer than 20 minutes.
  • As the parent of your own inner child tell the child that you have had a tough time taking care of him or her, but would like too be a better parent and have more conversations like the one you just had. End the meditation by watching your breath for a few minutes. Notice you will feel more calmer than you did before hand.
