Witchcraft is a practice, not a belief system :)

AS LilyMoon says; real witchcraft is not a religion! Although many witches do have a spiritual side to their nature. I think you are indicating Wicca; a religion very loosely based on some of the principles of witchcraft; but it isn't really witchcraft.

Witchcraft can be a religion if you want it to be or you can follow it without the religious trappings. It is up to the person. And in answer to the question it depends on your belief system. I have heard of people who are atheist and still believe in/practice magick. Some paths pay omage to the Godess only and some to the God only and some to both as equals. Some people choose to pay omage to a specific God or Godess or both. In paths such as Wicca the God and Godess are seen as complete aspects of the whole and there are many who use only that. It is a personal belief system for you and what fits into your life.

Dillon, you are missing the point.Of course you may have a religion, and still practise witchcraft; there are many Christians who practise witchcraft. Nevertheless, witchcraft is not a religion! It is a Craft!
I once asked my witch teacher what exactly is magic. She said:
"Magic is the knowledge of the few, for the benefit of the many."
That is witchcraft! Knowledge! Enlightenment!

witchcraft is the practice. it's basically spell casting, herbalism, divination, and whatever else that can be practiced. it is not a religion, it has no deities, no holidays, it's like saying cooking is a religion. while some might call it that [and swear by a celebrity chef or two] it's an act. Witches have a religious view, but witchcraft is not.
