Alchemists were the "experimenters". Much of known science was first discovered by Alchemists, But, because their experiments were very secretive (and often dangerous) they were often thought to be "magicians"; and, in many respects they were! Most magic is really knowledge.One of the great Alchemists was Isaac Newton. Read about him; you will be fascinated!
You don't simply do alchemy. You study, research, plan experiments, and preform them. It isn't widely known but most things from steel to wierd alloeys like "the net" wer created by alchemists. Alchemy is not only the gratest thing known to man but it can also be the worst idea ever. It requires skill, and a knowledge of the elements. Only STUDY alchemy if you are seriousle devoted. Otherwise it is a waste of time. (forgive my poor spelling or gramer for neither am I good at)
Thank you LArchenist. But thare is something I forgot. Learn the symbols of alchemy and decide weather you'd like to be a closit alchemist (it makes it like a hobbie) or labratory alchemist. Devote lots of time to studying popular factual workings and be careful you don't blow yourself up. Also make sure you use equipment and tools safely (should be a given) and make sure your following instructions to the letter to prevent catastrophic failure.
(also note many alchemists acidently lose limbs because of lack of safety equipment)

I came to this community to learn alchemy, do to the fact alchemy is science and can be explained. You seem to have people very knowledgeable on the subject. Is anyone willing to share some of there knowledge?
There is a free book available online called The Book of Aquarius. It was written by someone who's claimed to have read thousands of alchemical texts and provides a recipe for the Philosopher's Stone. Yeah, sounds odd, but it is free and the author backs up all his information with quotes taken from actual alchemical texts.
