yeah i agree to many new people wanna learn spells, no one just comes in asking to learn the history. Bravo, you seem to have some determination and dedication behind your studies. :) Welcome and i hope you find the teacher you are seeking.

It always surprises me that many people are unaware that some of the founder-members of Wicca are still alive.
Patricia Crowther; Maxine Sanders; Janet and Stewart Farrar; to name a few,are all still alive!
The history of Wicca is quite recent. However, if you are meaning the history of witchcraft, that really does go back a bit!

Stewart Farrar died in February 2000. Janet Farrar now lives with her partner Gavin Bone.

Thanks greystag; I didn't know that, my last contact was when both lived in Ireland. But I do know that Maxine Sanders is still alive,as is Patricia Crowther; although Patricia is now old and very frail. Maxine lives in Wales.

Raymond Buckland is another person you should read, not a founder, but one of the original coven members of Gerald Gardner. i don't mind helping you here and there, i'm shocked as well someone is asking for history and not spells.

off the top of my head, learn about the god and goddess and the basic believe system, circle casting, basic ritual tools like the athame, and terminology. that's what you need after all to begin your year and a day training ^_^ [i'll give you the answer to that one, you need to study for a year and a day before you can join wicca so you know if it is right for you]
