meditation for the New Ye

This is not mine but I think it is a good meditation.

This meditation is in reality a two-in-one affair. Ideally, it should be done on New Year's Eve or Day, so if necessary, ask your family -not in uncertain terms- for some "me time." of at least 40 minutes. If you can't do it on these days, try to do it during the first week of January. Have paper (preferably a brand new journal) and pen handy.

The first part of the guided meditation takes place in the bathtub. If you only have a shower, have a foot bath instead. If possible, light candles and play relaxing music, both at the bathroom and at the room where you will do the second part of the meditation. Also have a glass of cool water at both places.

Let's start with the bath. Use relaxing salts, sea salt or maybe some oat meal with powder milk (put it a cloth sack or old sock an drop it into the water) and, if desired, add a few drops of lavender essential oil . Get into the water, breath in deeply three times, making sure the air goes all the way to the stomach. Now, breathe nine times: count to six when inhaling and holding the air and to eight when exhaling. Close your eyes.

With the eyes of your imagination, see a deflated, transparent balloon attached to the top of your head. The water around you begins to softly glow with a white/blue light, making you feel very soft and relaxed. This is a purifying light that it's going to help you cleanse all the negativity that maybe within you. Now see the light enter your feet. It feels warm and cosy. It's like a gentle energy, pushing upwards. And as it does, the balloon starts filling, little by little, with a grey, dark gas. Know that the gas represents all those resentments, all those unkind words or actions that we may have said or done during the year to ourselves and others. It also represents our fears and our doubts (you may wish to visualise them or just see them as a dark, grey gas). We are ready to let them go.

The light pushes up, to your claves, your knees, your thighs. The balloon gets bigger and bigger, but there is nothing to worry about. It is very strong and it will hold all that needs to hold. The light pushes up, to your hips, stomach, torso back. Wherever the light goes you feel warm and weightless. You are happy to let go of what does not serve you. The lights pushes up: to your arms, shoulders, neck. The balloon gets bigger and darker. Up goes the light: to your face, the back of your head, the top of your head, until the whole of you is glowing and you breath in deeply, feeling liberated of letting go of the darkness that does not serve you.

Now see the balloon. It's flying away. See it go through your ceiling, on the top of your house, away, from your city, your country, away, away it goes, from planet Earth, the solar system, the Milky Way, away from planets and star, to a calm space, fill with a beautiful purple light. This purple light transmutes, transforms everything to its original, loving self, to light, to goodness and kindness and understanding. The balloon bursts, and the dark gas becomes specks of light, like a rainbow confetti and then it melts in to the purple light.

You attention continues to travel up, beyond the purple light, to a cool, yet calm and comforting darkness. In the centre of this darkness there is a beautiful golden fountain: it's the fountain of dreams and inspiration. Look into its glowing waters: you may see images, words. You may get a feeling and idea. Pause f

or a little and ask for the gifts of inspiration. What resolutions would be of more benefit you this new year? What great idea is there for you to will it into reality? What wonderful project is there for you to do in 2014?

See the water from the fountain overflow, like a cascade of light and travel down, beyond the purple light, beyond the stars and planet, down, beyond the milky Way, beyond the solar system, down, towards Earth, your country, your city, the top of your house, down, into your ceiling, into the top of your head, filling you with its wonderful presents, down your head, shoulders, torso, all of you filled with inspiring thoughts and ideas, down your hips, thighs, calves, feet, your whole being now brimming with the light of dreams, goals and possibilities, tingling, making you feel younger, stronger -alive .

Breathe in deeply three times. Open your eyes. Drink some of the cool water in the glass. Get yourself out of the bathtub, dry and go to the second room. Light the candle and play the music (optional). Take a few minutes to thank the Divine of your understanding, your guides, angels or Higher Self for helping to let go and the gift of inspiration. For the next 5 to 10 minutes write all the ideas that come to you. Do no edit, do not correct spelling mistakes, do not stop: just let it all out into the paper. Drink some more water.

Now think about something that you really want to happen this 2014 -whatever is something you got from the previous meditation or something that was already in your mind. Close your eyes and see yourself in this situation (allow some time to answer/see the questions). What it would feel like to have your wish come true? How would you act, how would you speak, with whom would you work with, or have fun with? What would you look like? How would you sound? How would your life change once this goal becomes a reality? Is this what you really want or how you really want it? If not, what needs to be change?

When you have clear image of what it would like to have this desire as part of your life, write it down. Let's say you want your business to succeed in 2014. Write down: I, (your name) am the happy owner of (business' name) one of the most successful business in (city, country, world) this 2014. Say it out loud three times. Breathe in deeply and blow out the candle.

Allow three days before re-reading your notes about ideas and inspiration. See what really reflects what you want and put away for another time what does not. Decide what is more possible to achieve right now; create goals; break them into steps; visualise them(remember not only to see, but to feel, hear, touch); decide dates (I intend to achieve step 1 by this date); see what immediate actions can you take (and take them).

Be also ware of the way you talk and think about your work, the people and the situation around you, yourself. You create the filters of your reality; if you decide to wear really dark shades, well, that's pretty much what you'll perceive. Make it a habit to once a month do some self examination and see what prejudices, fears, anger or resentment are there, and let them go (you can do the balloon meditation any time you feel it useful). And open your eyes to the world. Inspiration is all around us, bestowing gifts to those who take the time to see, learn, love, hope, dream and dare to do things differently. Happy 2014!

A long and interesting post. But my New Year, and that of many others, is Samhain. November 1st. not January.
