It depends what the wand is for. If for a certain type of spell category, such as wisdom spells, use a tree branch associated with wisdom, such as willow.

Also, make sure you feel ''connected'' to that particular piece of branch, and thank the tree's spirit or it may ''reject'' you.

Wands should be about 13 inches long, but remember, the body has a natural wand. -The index finger! Which is especially good for energy channeling.

Here is a link that may help for you to decide on what type of branch you would like:- http://www.witch-crafts.co.uk/page_1194863.html

Hope that helps!

Wands are a director of energy. Wands can be made for different purposes depending on what sort of wood you make them out of and what you use to decorate it with. If you make your own, keep in mind the purpose of the wand when you decorate it. You do not actually need a wand though. Since it is suppose to be like an extension of your own body, there is nothing wrong about using your finger.

Yes, but they are not as good as the ones which are about 13''.

Pocket wands also make it harder to channel the energy outwards, if you are projecting it that is, as because of the shorter length it makes less control in the direction.

However, they can come in handy on the quick and simple spells that dont require much energy direction.

Your "pocket wand" is your index finger. I would hope that you never leave home without it. =)

I use rings and bracelets to cut my senses off/protect myself when going to a store or a place with a lot of people. They are generally seen as self binds in many cultures. So you may want to see what works best for you. If you wear jewelry, take it off and see if it effects the flow of energy.

A wand is merely a "tool", just like the other tools we sometimes use. A wand has no power of its "self". The power is in you, when you "charge" the wand! My witch teacher never had a wand. Neither have I!
