teen witches in school.

There is several people at my school who wear the pentacle sign neclace because they think its ''cool''. They critize many teen wiccans and pagans just by wearing that necklace. I was wondering what everyones thoughts on this matter were and if you would be offended like those at my school.

I think getting offended by the trends of teenagers is like being offended when a baby drools on you. A baby is going to drool. Teenagers are going to do inane things because they think it's cool.

Such is life.

If they want to abuse symbols they dont understand, then so be it. They have the right to do so and it is not within our power to change that, so why even acknowledge their actions. In my opinion it is just wasted energy

Well, it is a pretty cool symbol...

It's mathematically pleasing, symmetrical, easily replicated, easily noticed, easily distinguished, and noticeable as itself regardless of colorization.

I would say the description of it simply being cool actually makes sense, and as far as branding and symbols go... It's a pretty good one.

One of my favorite shirts has a cross on it. It's obviously linked to the Christian faith but I'm not Christian myself, I don't mean to offend anyone by wearing it I just like the shirt. If people want to wear a pentacle then I really wouldn't get too upset by it personally, they're not doing it to be offensive to them it's just a fashion.

I'd also point out that the pentacle is not unique to Wicca/Pagan faiths but has been used in many different religions including (what I assume to be the dominant religion at your school) Christianity. So really I would assume the vast majority of people have the right to wear it religiously even if they don't mean it that way.

The pentacle is considered the symbol for the Wiccan and/or Witchcraft faith, possibly even pagan in general, but a witch doesn't wear it just because it looks cool and shows his or her faith, its actually a symbol of protection. These teens may not understand the meaning behind it, and MAYBE they don't practice (can you know for sure that they don't, or don't want to? Maybe they just haven't been given the opportunity to learn?) Just look at it as them protecting themselves and move on. It only offends you if you let it.

All those reply's above are exactually what I thought also. Though the only thing I dislike is when they are going to random people holding up the necklace and saying,''You are now cursed'',or''I curse you''. Something of that sort really gets annoying.

I do dislike that people wear it but I do respect their choices as many non-Christians wear crosses as a fashion choice so I don't judge

I will rather dislike them if they say they wear it because "Satan is so cool" or just generally to rebel againist their Christian family because they think it means Satanism

While the comment I made might offend some Christians and possibly Satanists I mean no disrespect but I'm just saying what I've heard from where I live and the fact that too many people own them

If you're a wiccan then you must learn that these people will grow out of their "cool" obsession and move onto something else. I wear one because it is my believe and protection, sadly others wear them simply for "new Age" style. I would not be offended, I would just have to learn to think past it.
