I would say it is referring to whatever "God & Goddess" you believe in.

Usually these are Wiccan spells reffering to the Horned God of nature and the Lunar Godess.

Even if they are referring to the Wiccan God & Goddess, you can always call upon your own deities instead, or in addition. That is the best part of magick: we are all able to use it, no matter our faith. Calling on another power is helpful, as are tools to increase focus. The only thing that is always required is your belief in yourself.

could be your specific god and goddess, like if you follow Ra and Isis. more likely though it speaks of the Horned God and the Triple Goddess of Wicca and most pagan paths. it can be switched out if you believe in Zeus and Juno or something, but that's what it refers. if you don't believe in them though, you shouldn't be calling on them. it's like trying to speak to someones imaginary friend, you don't believe they're real, so why are you trying to talk with them?

if you don't know who the Horned God or the Triple Goddess is, i suggest you research a bit. it's easier to find information on the Goddess than the God, but it's still easy to find a basic who they are.

I always refer to the God and Goddess this way, and I mean to encompass all Gods/Goddesses by this term. Each individual God/Goddess is an individual facet of the larger diamond that is spirit (or thats how I see it anyway)
