My answers pretty much the same as Asrik.

Your spirit heads to the astral for a bit (the well of souls of abrahamic religions) then reincarnates. I also believe in abstract personal heavens and hells. So it may be that your time on the astral is "heaven" or "hell" depending on your particular view when you you die.

My own two cents.

There are many things that really happen when we die, what is truly important is on what Level something happens.

Of course on the physical level, there is loss of conciousness direction and the degradation of the vessel we "drove" in life.

Beyond that, our soul energy goes through the experiances that we have chosen to participate in beyond death. Ie any cleansings from the life we left, or any specific purposes that are at this point revealed.

Beyond that, I do feel that reincarnation is a probability for many people.

I also believe in the concept that our bodies are merely a vessel for our souls energy.
Once death happens here on the physical our soul/spirit energy descends to the higher planes where it resides for awhile depending on your state of mind at the time of physical death and how much karma one has acquired in this life needs to be burnt off. Thus making it a heaven or hell experience for each individual... then reincarnation occurs.

To me, when you die you die, thats it,

But our immortal spirit will live on, in the minds and brains of those whos respect and love we have gained, Thus our spirit remains a memory.

But those who know me know i would say that ;)

The idea of a "soul" is belief, a Faith. There is no proof that the soul exists in fact. But who needs proof? A belief gives comfort, and tries to answer questions. Re-incarnation? Does that mean we come back as another human? Or does it really mean that "life goes on". Your body is "matter", and cannot be destroyed; only changed. It matters not if you bury the body or cremate it; the "matter" returns to earth. The earth sustains plants, animals, insects; in that sense we live again. Life goes on,until this planet eventually disappears. But the planet itself is "matter", cannot be destroyed, only changed. Shall we go back to the stars? That's not a bad thought is it? And does the "spirit" of our ancestors live on in memory? Most of my own ancestors (since 1349) are buried in a Yorkshire churchyard. I often sit there, amongst all the headstones; and I can "feel" my ancestors. I know all their names, and how they lived. There is Michael, over there is Abraham, there is my g-g-g-grandfather Joeseph who began the first village Post Office. They are all very real to me.

I have the best answer here:

"Its a surprise."

I say that because no one really knows what happens, sure you have ideas and what some believe happens, Im not saying I have my own beliefs as well just that we are two different people in the "belief" caterigories as it is often the situation, but no one really is sure. So in the mean time just think of it as the mysterious "surprise" it plainly is for now.

That's one the things we really are not permitted to know.

Would you though, in all honesty, want to know what happens after you die?
