Something to think about

Message : what gets me the most is when new ppl come in and ask a real question and honestly want to learn and get made fun of because they are new and are asking for help on where to get started. Then there are the newbies that come in and ask stupid questions like how to become a mermaid that one gets me I just want to reach through my monitor and ring their stupid neck..lol

A direct quote from a close friend...Many new members are popping up and the art of Magick grows. Without this the art would surely fade. Think back to when you just started learning about magick and think about those who did help you. Imagine if those people didn't exist, you wouldn't be where you are today. So when someone pops in and says "Hey I'm new", how bout helping them find the direction they are looking for instead of being a smart butt or cracking jokes.

Many young people are mislead on what can be acquired through magick. Explain to them that what they seek isn't possible on this plane of existence. Then if they still don't get it, refer them to someone more experienced than you.

After awhile of trying to help the inexperienced and watching others create Covens and classes for those just starting out. I must agree with my friend's statement wholeheartedly, there really is so much in this site for beginners, you just have to dig a little. The more you are willing to help yourself the more the rest of us are willing to help you.

May the Dragons of wisdom guide you and may the Dragons of love protect all of you upon your magickal journey =)

Before I begin: I do not intend to begin drama or conflict with you dragon, and I believe I pulled a trigger to get you to make this thread.

"Then there are the newbies that come in and ask stupid questions like how to become a mermaid" These are the people that took most of the teachers off the site, e.g., khao. So how are we suppose to advanced without the teachers here on the site anymore? I mean sure the amount of people taking an interest in magic is growing, but our knowledge is shrinking.

How does one teach the basics when one is currently learning the basics?

I don't mind new people, as long as they're willing to learn and they're not here to role-play or fool around.

I can't teach someone if they don't know what they want to learn.. Thats the main problem.

Once again: No conflict or drama intended, I know we have recently had our downs, but keep that aside.

I agree with Dragon, he makes a good point.

But something to keep in mind is that it isn't the newbs fault these people left, Barbarious. Yeah, they can ask some annoying questions, but Welcome to the Land of the Living. People are annoying all the time. I think while learning Magick the people who intend to teach it should learn patience and discipline as well, if they were chased off by a few mermaid-wannabes then they probably weren't as good as they looked all-in-all. Not saying they didn't know anything, just saying I have a low opinion of people who give up or quit just because life isn't perfect.

Well actually, in some of their goodbye threads, they did claim that there were too many trolls and role-players.

Yes, but do you really believe the "trolls and role players" found these great teacher's houses and held a gun to their heads, forcing them to leave? I don't think so. I think these people CHOSE to leave on their own. Yeah, trolls and role players are here, but if you don't want to deal with people like that you might as well not get online at all, not go to school, not go to work, and basically not commune with society in general. People like that are everywhere and I believe the truly great teachers would have enough experience to know that some things just have to be ignored.

Ragnarok.. *face palm*

They left because they were ANNOYED with those people, who ever said that the trolls/role-players physically met with the experienced practitioners and threatened them?

lol.

Nobody, that was an example. My way of saying it was these people's CHOICE to leave, they were not in any way made or forced to go, they chose to. Saying that they did it because there were some people here who annoyed them is something that gives me a low opinion of them.

"These are the people that took most of the teachers off the site"
The newbs in no way "took" most/any members off the site. The people left did so of their own free will so it's not the newb's fault. The people who left should have had a higher tolerance level (and in my opinion, perhaps a bit more maturity for some of them) if they wanted to stay here or in any social part of the world while being happy and at peace.

It's an endless circle is what it is.

We we're all newbs at some point. Not a single one of us knew what we were doing or what we were interested in when magick popped into our lives. Be it a movie that turned us on, parents, or an odd urge after hearing a passing conversation. We all had to start somewhere.

I agree, the newcommers need to be taught. Why? Because the ones who come in with their hollywood fantasy hardly have the chance to be shot down because there is always another newcommer who swears it is possible and they know the super secret hand shake to get the information. That's the blind leading the blind.

Perhaps they weren't interested in learning the facts of magick. Or maybe they were laughed at and told to figure it out on their own with little to no guidance.

We will always have those who will not give up on their imaginary dreams of what magick is. We will never get rid of the roleplayers. We will never get rid of the trolls. All we can do is try to save as many as we can from the cycle of stupidity keeping in mind, magick isn't for everyone.

People come and go from this site when the time comes. If more seasoned practitioners are leaving or have left because they found to many roleplayers or trolls..well thats on them and I say good riddance. This site has many positive points, none of which are brought up. Only the bad are being dwelled on.

Why walk away from people who need help?

Perhaps I'm just a bit biased because my coven members don't have these roleplaying dreams....or they're to afraid to tell me about it. I'm not sure which lol.

Shoot, I started rambling and lost my point.....

Ragnorok...
*facepalm* I'm beginning to grow a bruise on forehead.

I didn't say they were FORCED to go by people, but the fact that they were BEING ANNOYED by people this persuaded them to leave.. I think it's quite easy to understand what I'm saying.

I'm going to leave it there because obviously you won't understand simple language and continue with this.
