God & Goddess

New here...Was interested in paganism a few years ago and I loved it until I read a book that put me off the whole thing. The book was called wicca:a guide for the solitary practitioner by Scott cunningham. Then I read a bit more about different paths of paganism etc and it seemed that the paths I looked into just didn't suit me. Mainly because I don't like the idea of calling on a specific God/goddess and I just couldn't really believe in these gods/goddess and not a fan of having a God/goddess figures on an altar.... I do believe in a 'higher power' I just don't put a name to it etc. So anyway I felt a bit lost and stopped reading into paganism. Nothing against people who do like to put a name to Gods and goddesses but it's just not for me. Is there a path that will suit me? I know a lot of paths have 'labels' I'd like to follow a guideline but not something that relies on Gods and goddesses. Not even sure if I've explained myself properly lol

There are many who follow paths without gods and goddesses. One can follow a path of their own design, it's called being eclectic.

Within an eclecic path, you can choose what you follow, how you build an altar, and the merits of your own belief system.

you could consider 'eclectic' or just go with 'pagan' or 'witch'. i know plenty of witches who do not pray to a specific deity. some go with 'divine feminine' and 'divine masculine' energies, or just have one candle for 'spirit'. and while some over time connect with a specific deity, they are not the prime being they call on for spells and whatnot [you don't need to call on any higher power to cast spells, you just need to tap into the energy around us] witchcraft is a craft, not a religion, so you can still practice it without any sacred being looking over your shoulder. you might consider looking into books like To Walk a Pagan Path or Everyday Witchcraft as a guide to living a magickal life, but not a deity specific path.
