Basically Thor was right, but his answer can be added onto. So I will do that!

"Leave the candle burning"

That is the meaning basically. If you have a canflexible, and it states to not burn it out. First step, leave it be. They mean, that you leave it running u til, there is no more, candle, or until it has went out itself.
