I wouldn't forget that I cast a spell. If you forgot you cast one then how do you know it worked? If you forget about it, how are you suppose to believe it will work? Many reasons why I would not forget a spell.
2 practitioners have told me it is best to forget the spell after casting. They said something like the spell loses impact if you don´t forget about it.

When you cast your spell you sent out your desires, energized with your emotions, thoughts, desires and hopes. Give them a chance to fly free on the winds of change to the Enchanted Halls Of The Goddesses and Gods. By thinking about your spell after casting it, you are drawing the energy of that spell back to you. You then become the anchor holding it back. The energy of the spell shoots out from you, gets so far - maybe a mile or so - then loops back to when you wonder how long it will take. Thus a never ending cosmic loop has been created by you, keeping your spell from working. When you do this you can cast the spell continuously for as long as you want, but it will not work, as you are not allowing it to fly free in the cosmos and work."
It's not so much a matter of forgetting about the spell as it is not thinking about the spell once it is cast instead of dwelling on when or if it will work. Cast the spell knowing that it will work and then move on to thinking about other things.
Either you took that too literaly or they didnt explain themselves correctly. I can't tell I am still half asleep. Let me try to explain. It depends on the spell for one. For instance if its a love spell then you cannot have any expectations. If its not meant to be then it won't be. No sense in dwelling on it like making yourself crazy looking for signs. But if it is meant to be then you can speed up the process and intensify the experience. If its not a love spell or you are confronted by signs you can't ignore that there is more work to do then it can't hurt to cast another different spell. When looking for spells in the section of this site and elsewhere, I usualy try to keep a couple working spells on hand that in my book of shadows that I know may come in handy for me or someone else.
Alas, we all desire our spells to work and have maximum impact.
After the spell is cast, the magician shall put his mind to other tasks that require thought. The magician shall rest assured that his working will work as desired and think no more of it lest it needs to be considered once again perhaps to be improved upon later, or re-cast, or when the magician writes it in his magick record.
