Religion a must?

Does witchcraft have to be based on religion? Do you have to believe gods and goddesses in order to perform spells and such? I don't want to change my religion in order to do spells.

From what I understand you don't have to change your religion or anything. God and Goddess worshiping is something that is not required, but often it is what is done.

So should I just stay away from all spells that include calls to gods and/or goddesses then?

If you don't believe in them then asking them for power or help in spells probably isn't the best idea

I have no religion and I doubt the existance of dieties as all powerful beings. I write my own spells and burn them after I cast them as a means of sealing them. I never use the same spell twice. Though there may be truth to dieties considering the only spells Ive ever successfully cast are protections and curses.

That's good to hear, I don't want to base my magic on religion.

Religion is not a must if you don't want it to be. Nor do you have to change your religion. If you want to ask for help from the deity of your religion you can. What you believe is your reality, which is why everyone practices magic slightly differently. Also, why ask for something from another if you are perfectly capable of doing it yourself. If you work with any deity though, respect is a must.

Thanks, I'm glad all magic isn't based on a certain religion or something.
