If you do a good deed and nothing happens to you in return would that be a way to figure out if someone is cursing you?

I wouldn't say so at all. I don't believe in this whole "immediate karma" thing in that, for every good deed you do, something good happens to you in return. For every good deed you do, something good happens to another human being, or many people. That's a reward in of itself. If you're doing a good deed in order to be rewarded for it, then it isn't really *that much* of a good deed. It's a selfish deed.

I'd say, just do good deeds, whatever you believe them to be, regardless of whether you think you're getting anything out of it. Karma need not exist for such deeds to be worth your while. :-P

Not hardly.

Besides, you don't know that something good didn't happen in return. Perhaps you simply failed to notice it. Besides, we're not supposed to be doing good deeds because we get something in return. We should be doing good deeds because that is the right thing to do.

as said above, karma isn't instant and noticeable, nor will it be a big grandiose thing. say you hold a door open for someone, don't expect to find 20$ right after and a banner to fall down from Karma saying 'you're welcome'. say you hold the door open for someone, at the end of the day someone might hold the door open for you. or, if you always hold the door open for people, this could build up and [as an example] one day that week you go to the vending machine for a snack and two fall out instead of one.

same with negative karma, you could trip someone intentionally, then loose your favourite pen, or have a pop quiz later that day in a class you don't like. little things, karma doesn't tend to do big things that obviously scream karma if you're just doing small kind gestures. and as said above, don't go around doing good expecting karma to rain money on you.

Lark could not be more right.

Is the gratification of knowing you did the right thing not enough of a prize in return? Does there have to be more? Sometimes I wonder about the human mind... :/

there is a saying "no good deed goes unpunished" but you do to others what you want other to do to you. if you help someone and they are an hmm lets say not nice about it, it's there problem. and they will get there's. but if you do some good fore someone and you want something in return well you do, but not what you want, In my experience call it the Divine/ life/ karma what ever, it will give you what you NEED not what you want or think you need. and the signs are there for you to see. but maybe that beautiful blond across the street caught your eye, or you got a news feed on facebook via your smartphone that distracted you from an divine intervention. your reward for doing a good thing. but it's not like a lottery. you get another chance. and trust me it will happen, and when it happens it's when you least expect it to

No I don't look or expect money I give to the poor and help anyone in need it was a simple question maybe sometimes advise is good enough for me having a friend to turn to when I need one. Everyone asked for help but they look at it in a wrong way when I ask something or even say a word. Thanks tho. I still appreciate it just when you take the time to actually read and answer a question.
