Impossible?

Hello,i have been on this website for over a year now,and i have noticed that there is a lot of argument about the existance of some beings(i'm sure you know what i'm talking about)and,at the risk of being labeled a "fluffy",i'd like to point out that,in the past, several of the things that are scientific fact now, where considered to be nonsense,i have noticed that the majority of you seem to believe that science and magick are somehow the same,so,by that logic, nothing is impossible, some things are just VERY unlikely,i'm not saying that i believe i can cast a spell and turn myself into a dragon,or something else nonhuman,to make a long story short,(and at the risk of being gaged)i think that the majority of you are close minded and self righteous, sure,it is very unlikely that you will meet a vampire like dracula or count orlock, but i have heard so,kind of far out things from people who don't believe in werewolves and such, some of you clam to have met demons and angels, and to have been contacted by gods and/or goddesses, well you know what? there are people out there who believe that there are no such things as deities, demon,or angels,or even magic, but just because some people don't believe in these thing, does mean that they don't exist,i'm not trying to be preachy,i'm just expressing my opinion,i am NOT saying that deities, demons and angels don't exist,i'm just saying that, just like some people don't believe in vampires, werewolves, dragons, and such, not everybody believes in angels and such,i have seen things that i believe were ghosts, but somebody else might tell me that there are no such things as ghosts, but that doesn't mean that i'm crazy or anything,i think i've made my point, thank you for your time.

"The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" is a good quote and motto to remember.

I find it mildy annoying with "fluffers", but I believe some are getting a little too fired up about it.

Been on a site where smearing campaigns and witch hunts were common and all that was needed was uttering "fluffbunny".

Even the admins were part of it and it was one of the biggest forums of its area.

The irony...it was an otherkin site.

Very true, I wish that people would stop being so hard on the new people, if you believe in vampires and mermaids or maybe even believe your self that you are a mythical creature then so be it. Why should you judge somebody for their beliefs? Isn't that what most magick users want others to stop doing? It doesn't help when you do it yourself...

While I do think people should strive to be open-minded, and should not be so harsh on those who are new or who are somewhat misguided, there are things which are clearly impossible and need to be recognized as such.

The definition of the word "impossible" is something I would encourage people to look at: Generally anything that is "impossible" is accepted to mean that it is something which goes against our *current* predefined and proven scientific/natural laws, which cannot happen *currently* under these proven and known variables. The word "current" implies that perhaps in the future, our understanding could change, and things which are now unachievable may become achievable. But that does not make them "possible" at this current time. That is much like saying you "might" get a job in the future, so you tell people you have a job right now even though you're unemployed and exploring your options.

Thus, I will always say things like "no, you cannot turn into a mermaid", "no, you cannot shoot fireballs from your hands", "no, you are not a thousand years old and you cannot be immortal" and I will label those all as "impossible" things. Because currently they do clearly go against defined, proven laws. And until they are proven otherwise, they remain impossible.

While there are no Dracula or Lestat vamps out there there are psi and sang vampires who feed off of pranic and life force energy. So it's not that it's impossible per say but I think people tend to stray toward the fluff side of these labels. There are witches, psychics, and star children, so why keep a closed mind when the Earth and the universe is open to so many possibilities! That's just my philosophy :)

God bless and Blessed be~!
