BoS and Grimoires
By: / Beginner
Hello again,

I've thought of another question to ask all of you :)
I'm still confused of the difference between a Grimoire and a Book of Shadows. One of my friends who practices with me, said that a BoS is like a journal/diary and that you write down the results of your spells/rituals etc. And that a Grimoire was a book where you write how to do them, and other instructions and information. Is this correct? I'm just a bit curious, and she hasn't wrote a lot in either of them, so if we're wrong, it won't be too late to maybe start over on the books.

Thanks for reading, sorry about all of the questions! >.<

I could be wrong but the way I would explain the diffrence is this: A Book of Shadows is like a lab book, a Grimoire is like a text book.

You have a good idea of it Luna, it could be related to: BoS = Journal, Grim = cookbook

Good ideas :3 So, in that case, wouldn't my friend be right? Since she's using her BoS as a journal, and her Grimoire as an informational/instruction book.

The BOS is the 'witches' personal book of spells, information and ALL other things related to that persons 'personal' journey thru the magical world. A 'grimoire' is a book where others have placed information for all to see and NOT necessarily ;someone's own book. It would be considered like a library book tho in a witches own library and not her 'own' book..

Hmm, ok. So, should I tell her to redo her books? Also, she keeps spells in a separate place.

Alrighty then :) We'll continue making it as it is, and actually, I saw both of them today and they were looking pretty good. (Somehow she managed to write 3 more pages in the Grimoire.)

Thanks for telling me, I always have so many questions!
