Christianity is based on fear. I am having the same problem. My solution: follow the faith and path of Jesus christ but also believing in the spiritualty of Wicca.

soul search. it's confusing and hard, but in the end, only you can choose your religion. historically speaking, people went on spirit quests, or pilgrimages to help them come closer to god. regardless of your age, you can search and decide your beliefs. there's a few paths when it comes to wicca, while most believe in a god and goddess, some people believe there's just one deity [either male, female, or gender neutral] some believe there's just this orb of energy we return to at the end of our life to report what we've learned then are reincarnated to learn more. and some don't believe there's any deity.

personally, i believe in a god and goddess, but in my circles, i welcome in the dragons, and unless there's a particular spell, or if it's yule, i don't call upon the god and goddess, our coven leaves an offering for them, but that's about it because we each believe something different. when i was starting out, i was christian, it wasn't God i fell out with, but my belief in jesus. you could be a christian witch, but some use god as the horned god [example God and Aphrodite] it doesn't matter much. while there are a few 'rules' [mostly because certain things cannot happen in magic] the path is very solitary and personalized. i've practiced for going onto 8 years, and my belief has changed quite a few times.

Like I stated, look at the root beliefs of your faith. If a practice goes against the ten commandments, then you probably want to stear clear from it. Examples of things you could do would be as follows:

  • Meditation
  • Healing
  • Herbal Medicine
  • Hermetic rituals (LBRP, GBRP, etc.)
  • Working with crystals
  • Divination
  • Making charms and hoodo bags

Use your imagination a bit. As long as your not harming anyone, worshiping other Gods, or trying to do something against someones will, your not really going against your faith.

Being christian is stupid because a lot of it is made of by priests and such like hell isn't real and also we all at once in out life's don't follow the ten commandments and if you do your like a saint so just do what you want and move on

I don't mean to offend you tanner because I remember you said something not too long ago that made me laugh and complimented you on it... But, being Christian is not stupid, it's a bit ignorant to say. That would be me saying that Satanism is stupid or Kaballah is stupid, but they are not. Organized religion has gotten corrupted over the years, yes I admit that, but everyone is human. I don't fully follow the ten commandments either, but I don't feel God will damn me for it. And yes, we were taught that hell was real; I do not follow what you mean by that.

Sullen, just follow your own faith and what you feel is right between the mixture of Christianity and Wicca. As long as you don't do anything that is morally wrong, God will never judge.

Thanks for all of the opinions and advice. But my next problem is this: how do you soul search? I feel like my writing may have possibly influenced me into this...I knew of Wicca because of the media ever since I can remember, but I ended up discovering writing after my interest in magick and I became a fantasy writer. I'm so lost.

You soul search by dropping all religious notions and beliefs and learn about all religions that you're drawn to until one feels like home. Usually on this path you learn a ton of information and no matter what you end up settling into, the journey causes you to be far more open minded and knowledgeable about spirituality in general. Soul searchers who have found their beliefs are the most confidant about their faith because they have completely narrowed down what they believe, what they don't, and what coincides within world religions.

I had the same trouble for many years. I was raised catholic and, surprisingly, found my answers there. The commandments say you shall have no other gods before me. It dosen't say anything about after, or the saints. I took this to mean that as long as you keep God first, there is nothing wrong with acknologing other "entities". That and as far as polytheism goes, I've found that you can find a patron saint to help with pretty much anything. That and angels can be very helpful too. To use an example from my own life I am currently doing candle magick to ask for/ thank St. Joseph the Worker (patron saint of workers and beseeched by the unemployed) and St. Jude (patron saint of hopeless causes) to help get my husband a job. They came through so now I'm burning candles and Frankincence incense to thank them for all their help. I also call on Bast (from Egyptian beliefs) as a protectress of my home and family. While I call on her, and honor her, I am sure to make the distiction that she is not my goddess, and that I am calling on her solely as a non-specific entity to help in the capacity of protecter. As for the divine feminine, I give my honor to Holy Mary, mother of God (the Son), and Queen of Heaven (as she is honored in the catholic Faith). I hope this helps you.
