Organ donors

Last day I saw a show about a woman that was saved by a young man who died and whose lungs were donated to her. He was under-age, so his parents made the choice for him.

It led me to start thinking about whether or not it should even be an option if you die. Personally, I believe that it should be a mandatory thing, though I do understand that the main reason it is a choice is because of religious beliefs in the matter.

Which then led me to consider this: In almost all religion, preservation of human life is pinnacle, correct? Why then would someone deny a dying person the organs they need when that person then expires? I mean, I know that in many religions if the body is not "whole" it is not accepted into heaven, but I don't think this is true in Christianity, which is mostly what I'm thinking about at the moment.

In any case, I know that legally, it encroaches on a person's right to religion. What do people who value the institution of religion think?

It'd remove personal choice and there's also bonding happening. It's why I don't give blood. I'd be reluctant, but I'd take a blood transfusion only if I needed it. I'd have to do a lot of work to undo the blood bond that'd form. The bonding's a 2 way street and I'd have to always fight against the effects of their causes.

And I can guarantee that the one I'm bonded to would get the far far far better end of the deal, even with most other mystically inclined people.

This is a very sore subject to me but i think it should be manditory that organs be donated whether they were on the list or not.
People who wait for donations that have to be on medication and constant medical help take up alot of time needed for others as well as money from our governments.

We all know the saying "Death brings new life".

I think the reason most people don't donate their organs is because they don't think about it. I remember over-hearing a conversation once in which someone was talking about being cremated when he died, but his wife mentioned donating their organs to science and he said that he had never thought of doing that. Neither have many other people, apparently, and that may be why they don't.
