My Personal Path

Wicca is a beautiful religion. It teaches respect for nature, and the energies around us. One of the most amazing parts of Wicca is that it is based mostly on personal preferences. You can make your own correspondences and symbols, while using many that are provided for you. However, what happens after you get the basics down? In this thread, we will be talking about my experiences with Wicca, and why I'm branching off into my own Wiccan related path.
Over the years I practiced Wicca, but want a more personal craft. I have put much thought into it, and feel like it would be a good idea to share my thoughts publicly. So, if you're wanting to find a new path and maybe make one of your own this thread is for you!
So first of all, I must establish a code of ethics. I am a pacifist, so my morals are based around my own personal moral code. I help whoever I can, I face every situation with knowledge, courage, and kindness. Nobody wants to feel pain, so make that person's day a little bit better.
Personally I follow the Celtic Pantheon, so they are the deities of my choice. I still use the same symbols provided in Wicca, however as I add more to my collection, I will add them here. I still celebrate the same holidays as Wiccans.
As time goes on I'll add more to this thread, but if anyone wants to start conversation over this, they are more than welcome.

So I've done some basic reading into Wiccan tradition, and one of the things I continually get stuck on I suppose is just the transition from simple meditation and visualization to spellcasting.

Also, I personally prefer a mixture/synthesis of the greco-roman, egyptian, and sumerian pantheons, and I am constantly updating my list of attributes, colors, herbs, etc associated with each deity. I guess one of my questions is whether these simply amplify the power of a spell considered to be in the domain of the associated deity?

The symbols and correspondences we use in spell work, do amplify the energy of the Spells, hence the term "raising energy" it all adds to the intention of the spell. Thus making your intent more powerful, and the universe to fabricate it into your life. At least, that is my opinion, and some people vary.

I mean that is how I visualize my spells working. Actually, about 99% of my spells are simply through visualization partly from its practicality and partly because it comes easiest to me. I guess the best way to view tools, herbs, etc is as providing extra energy to the work being done?

That's my understanding. It is best do go what feels right. Magic is very personal, and can adapt to anyone and how they wish to practice.

One of the things to remember about Wicca is that it is primarily a religion. Although Wiccans believe in the existence of magic and we use it in our ritual practices, Wicca isn't very much about spellcasting. Many of the Wiccans I know seldom resort to spellwork at all.
