Are all male witches gay?
By:

So i hear some people say 'All Guys that are wiccans/witches are gay'.. is that true or are there some male Wiccans/witches that are NOT gay. i'm asking this question because i find it offense because they're basically saying witchcraft is mostly for females and thats not cool. Gay people are cool but saying 'most male witches are gay' is not a nice thing to say.

state your opinion!

Most of the male wiccans I have met in my life are straight. Simply put, whoever said that didn't know what the heck they were talking about.

Yes, there are gay wiccans, just like there are gay people in every religion.

Most of them are not.

I've known many straight married males who are Wiccan or practice Witchcraft. But I also notice that most males don't call themselves "witches". Although Wicca itself is very female dominant, that is merely because the religion itself is matriarchal. The goddess is represented by the priestess, therefore women are seen as "higher" in status but males still hold importance as representing the horned god. Males that practice Wicca have great respect for women due to this. But witches in general are not necessarily Wiccan, and many sects/paths of magick have male dominant practices. Most males call themselves magicians, sorcerors or leave labels out all together due to the female association with the word "witch" which is fairly recently come about due to stereotypes.

hmm that was clearly a very ignorant person that told you that. If you are gay you are gay, does not matter what religion, colour, where you are from etc, if you are you are and if you are straight you are straight, pfft some people. And to be againt gay people like some of you is a complete disgrace and if you are you shouldnt be against anyone. Love all x

I think Witchcraft tends to attract more homosexual men rather than heterosexual men because pagan and neopagan religions, such as Wicca, are very tolerant or accepting of homosexuality rather than Abrahamic monotheistic religions. So I think its natural there are more homosexual male witches compared to heterosexual male witches.

Very well said thebright. It is precisely because they are more acceptable in Wicca. Also Wicca promotes getting in touch with the Goddess/feminine side. So that is also appealing to gay males.

Thebright, I agree with you. The Craft is open and doesn't discriminate against any. It promotes self-awareness, healing and unity. That's the opposite of what most mainstream religions are offering. That is the most likely reason there's a large number of homosexual and female witches. As for the OP, not all male witches are gay. I've met plenty that are straight.

TheMerlin, I disagree with the whole "feminine elements" of Wicca is appealing to Gays. That's kinda stereotypical stating that all things "feminine" appeal to gay men.

I didn't say it applied to all gay males. Just those that feel more comfortable in a feminine setting.
