Okay long story short i thought you cannot ask the gods or goddess for something for yourself. I mean by if you want to find love you cannot ask them for love, however you can ask them to find love for someone ease.

You can ask them anything. As far as I know. But that doesnt mean they'll always respond.

Where did you get this information?

Yes you can ask the god and goddess for something, but often they require something in return. That something is up to you to find. Just remember, do not offer money, because the god and goddess have no need for money. If you do ask for something, give them something you think they would need. Ask yourself, what would the god and goddess need, that I could offer them? You almost always have to give them something in return. If you trick them into giving you what you want, then you are in for a nasty surprise.

Of course you may ask for help for yourself! Three weeks ago I suffered a heart attack. Since then I have cast a healing each evening. I am feeling fine. Naturally, I am taking the conventional medication as well as my own.
I cannot think that my Lord and Lady would want "gifts" in return for help. They are much more powerful than that! The "belief" in their power is enough reward. But by all means leave them a gift if you wish.

Further to "gifts". At the close of my rituals I do pour what is left of the liquid, wine etc.on to the ground for the Earth Mother. Just part of my own ritual.

I agree with Brysing. I really don't understand this ethic of never benefiting from your own faith and magick. If you think about deities being like our spiritual parents, why would your loving parents withold you from benefiting in your life?

We use our skills to benefit us, we use our bodies to benefit us, we use everything at our disposal to, ultimatey, benefit ourselves. Self-benifit is really not a dirty word! If I was a deity, I would very much want my offspring to benefit from life in every way possible! :D
