Jesus seemed to think that the world was going to end soon after He ascended into heaven and it still hasn't. Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Jesus states that all the signs marking the end of the world in Matthew 24 would be fulfilled before his generation ended. That generation ended 2000 years ago, and the world has not come to an end, neither has all those signs been fulfilled.
I'm an ordained Christian Minister and the explanation I was given when I studied in the Seminary about this was that God has 3 persons. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit and that only God the Father knew when exactly the world would end. Jesus was fully God and fully Human, a 2 part nature so as a human too He did not know.
Matthew 24:36 "However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows." There are a lot of things that contradict themselves in the bible. For several years before the bible books were written the stories were passed down via oral tradition. If you tell someone a story and ask them to pass it around the story is going to change quite a bit. The main points are what is important

According to the Bible 1 day is like 1000 years so they could argue it's a short time for God. And the blood moon occuring exactly when Isreal becomes a nation in 1948 that's really peculiar....Others prophecies like isreal rebuilding the temple that will be instresting if that happened because donald trump said he would try to attempt that....Other prophecies seem too general like Wars rumor where countries will be in the future or like the dome of rock being removed or something.. Some even say america not prophesied in the in the Bible and will somehow vanish and all the conflict with north Korea makes me wonder...I find all this very instresting and much to atheist credit these couple of years will either prove Christians wrong or right because according to them we are extremely close to the end of days

one has to be flexible with this book. there are parts in it that contradicts other parts. And NASA has found actual evidence to support what the bibles says as being factual. I actually work with god doing jobs for her, and I have heard her say things that have contradicts things she told me in the past. So it is important to note that God does change her mind at times.

but the purpose of the bible is that of a handbook on how to be human in a proper way. At least that is what she told me.
