Would it be unethical of me to cast an influence spell, even if it's in the name of justice?

In what way are you going to use it, when you spoke of using it for justice?

"Ethical" is completely subjective.

Morals are defined by society. Therefore, they differ slightly from culture to culture and from individual to individual, because they aren't set in stone by any means.

In my opinion, it would be totally fine to cast a spell that affects free will (I'm assuming that's hhat you mean by an influence spell) if there was a situation that I thought called for it. However, I have a friend who will not cast any spells that affect any other person whatsoever, even in a positive way, because she doesn't want to interfere with other people's lives.

All in all, it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to go through with this spell.

Thanks for the advice! When I speak of using it for justice-- it's something that's outside the courts, but would be disastrous for many people if not corrected. I think I'm going to do it, because I truly mean it for the good of millions of people.q

An influential spell for the good of a million people. I see, so it is indeed one of the topics of controversy.

I can agree that cultures differ in many ways, as well as what people believe. Though what I do not agree is the act in which you will play a god for a nation even for a single person.

People have the right to make their own choices and decision. When you influence people, you rob them their right to choose. What if you were the one to be robbed of your right to choose where you will be?

It isn't about what is right or wrong. It is just about making a choice, that makes a difference. And I do not believe that only one person is capable of knowing what is good for them or for all. I believe a lot of the million people are thinking the same thing.

It all goes down: To what the people will do to save themselves? The burden is not for just one person to carry.

What the above said.

While you may frown upon using a ritual to influence someone's choices, and free will, people are doing it without even touching magic, every single day.

Every single request you make, commercial you watch, speech you give and more is an attempt to persuade, convince, control, suggest to, or influence others.

Even if you don't use people as mere means, and avoid this kind of thing, you're still doing some of it on a subconscious level.

So how unethical do you find it to alter someone's "free will"(which is already dubious to begin with) with magic?
