According to Buddhist doctrine , the original Buddha no longer exists.

When one attains Buddahood , after one's particular state of incarnation ends , the next state is non-existence. Ergo , he no longer exists.

What you can do is learn about his teachings. This is as close as being a "follower of Buddha" as you can get.

In Buddhism , I don't think anything is said about magic and witches. If anything was said about it , I cannot recall it.

It should be noted that Magic is much like a tool and Buddhism advocates the letting go of unnecessary desires and baser feelings such as anger.

Thus , as a result , things like curses and the likes are thus naturally inappropriate.

My suggestion is that you do some research on Buddhism before you look into how to join. Many religions have dietary restrictions, some have requirement that are to be followed. Knowing all of these things before hand will prevent you from making a choice you are not happy with later.
