"Harm ye none, do what ye will." - The Wiccan Rede
This also applies to yourself, so suicide would be frowned upon, so to speak.

Very true Bree. However I must add that there is no set doctrine in Wicca one way or another. Individual views will vary. Also even since there is a general consensus on the fact that Wicca promotes respect of nature(people included), the belief in reincarnation is also adhered too. In this sense even though some might say oh that wasn't very good to do, there will be no everlasting punishment for it as the Christians believe. So although it is sad and unfortunate the person will receive their rebirth if they so choose and after much reflection on the past life in question.

First of all, let me correct a misapprehension about the Wiccan Rede. The Rede is advice, not a law. And what it says is that IF your actions will not cause harm you are free to do them. The Rede is absolutely silent on those actions that might cause harm, leaving the decisions regarding these actions to the ethics and situation of the individual Wiccan.

There is no single opinon or rule within Wicca in regards to suicide. Whether suicide is appropriate or not would, in my opinion, depend upon the situation in which the individual finds themselves.

For instance, if the individual had been diagnosed with a terminal disease and was experiencing unbearable pain that could not be relived by any available treatments then suicide might indeed be a valid choice for the person. As a Wiccan High Priestess, I would support any of my coveners who found themselves in this situation and made this choice.

On the other hand, if the individual were in good health and were contemplating suicide because they were depressed or they found themselves in a difficult life situation that could be remedied and was only temporary, then I would try to help them find a less permanent solution to a temporary situation.

Remember that just because we are Wiccan it doesn't mean that our lives will always be perfect. Sometimes the Gods give us difficult and painful lessons to learn. Suicide is a way of cheating and failing to master these lessons. When that happens it is likely that you will simply have to face similar lessons in the next lifetime.

I'm Wiccan and have gone through suicidal stuff myself. My faith is a big part of what's helped me pull through it. Regardless of Wicca or not, I would advise anyone against suicide. Now, the Rede says "Harm none". Some would interpret it in many different ways, including "no self harm". I myself use the Rede as a reminder for myself to stay away from self harm. I do not consider suicide murder, however, though it is legally murder. In the United States anyway.

Im not sure I understand the context of the question. Are you asking because you are thinking of becoming wiccan? Here is where the paradox of this religion comes into play. I will take an ecclectic approach and tell you that all life is precious. We did not create ourselves, therefore we do not have the right to end our own lives. Depression and suicidal tendencies are not a religous deficiency, they are actual medical mental illnesses and should be handled by proffesional medical and psychological physicians. If that isn't something that you are interested in exploring then I suggest you meditate, contact your spirit guide, do a reading or have one done, or see a priest.
