Initiation
By:
I see posts about initiations and having to be initiated to become a witch. But I have used magick since I was a child. I have witches in my ancestry. Therefore I believe I was born a witch. But do bloodborn witches still have to be initiated? If so, why does my magick work? Why has it almost always worked? I'm not talking about spells. I'm not a spell caster. I'm a will maker. I will things and they happen. However, I do want to get into spell casting. I want to explore all of what's inside me.

You don't have to be initiated to become a Witch.

In some forms of Wicca one needs to be initiated, but not in all forms. And Wicca and Witchcraft are different in any event.

However, I would also say that even if you have an ancestor who was a Witch, that does not make you a Witch. Think of it this way, say you had some ancestors who were great pianists. Despite that, if you never sat down at a piano, learned to play, and practiced regularly you'd never be a pianist yourself. Same with Witchcraft. You become a Witch by doing the work necessary to learn how to go about it.

good post as I was wondering if maybe I should not yearn to learn about being a witch as it isn't in my family...... that I know of anyway .

Peach, you can learn and practice any religion you want. Lark, thanks for your response. It's always a blessing to be taaut by someone with your knowledge. But it's not just the ancestry I consider. I only learned of that years after I discovered the power in me. I believe it was passed down to me.

Magic isn't a religion, it's a practice which is often used by different religions/spiritualities. You can learn and practice how to be a witch (or any other correctly used cultural term for witch), but you can't always learn and practice any religion you want. Some religions are closed religions and/or will limit your learning and/or practicing of them.
