DO:
Meditate before practicing a powerful rite
Think about your perpose for doing the spell you are performing constantly.
Focus on the spell and not what's around you unless it is very important
When performing spell keep your eyes on what you're doing ( if you can't renember the words to the spell than record yourself because if look at a book to read then you broke the energy that you were useing to cast the spell)

DON'T:
Use a spell to harm someone ( whatever you cast comes back to you three times three
Use a spell to take away someone's free will
Be paranoid when you preform a spell ( whatever you believe the outcome of the spell will be will be the outcome

This is the just about funniest and most misguided advice I've read all day. If you need to read a spell from a book while practicing magick/ performing rituals READ IT...it will not break your energy.

Harmtonone2 ~ free will and morals are subjective concepts and personal for every practitioner of the arts. It is up to indivuals to decide what to believe and where to draw the line. It is also possible to use very dark magick for very positive outcomes.

reading will not break the energy if you know what you are doing properly. meditation, while a good idea is not always needed. "Use a spell to harm someone ( whatever you cast comes back to you three times three " this statement and "Use a spell to take away someone's free will " are completely belief based, and in most magical traditions are actually accepted. i think you should have posted this in the "wiccan" forums as this is obviously more veered towards that(or your view on wicca). however, all in all i find this post to be very short, and i do not even know why you posted this in the first place with so little information, including nothing about fake spells, which is one of the things i thought would be most prominent in this type of post.

While I think meditating or at least spending a few minutes focusing on what your intention is for the spell, and maintaining that intention throughout is reasonable advice, I have to agree with the other posters. I've read spells plenty of times and they've worked. I didn't break the energy by doing so.

Personally, I don't think you can take away a person's will. You might be able to push them in a particular direction, but you can't make them do anything.

Do

Understand what you are doing

accept that it won't always be quick

know why you are casting, the true reason for the issue you are trying to solve

try to change the situation through mundane means

your best to avoid distractions or minimize them

think out all the possible outcomes that could result from your spell

understand that if the spell 'doesn't work' the answer you sought was probably 'no' or the situation was not what you thought it was

remember to follow up with a thank you to any entity you call on

Dont

cast just to cast

assume you have all the answers

cast a spell you are not willing to pay the consequences of, if there are any

be disrespectful to those you call on to aid you spell

***This is my list of dos and don'ts it is what I use for myself when I cast, so this is my opinion***

Reading from a book breaks visualization
Which means it breaks the energy
Which means its a don't

When going to make a critic saying get your facts straight

Dark magick can only be used in self defense
Use it for any thing else is stupid

You're right not used all time
Meditation is used for long rites

Like I said you can't take away free will
And I agree with you
You can push others in a certain direction

You can read from a book but it makes it harder to visualize
So I record what I say which makes it easy to visualize and not break energy
