Ancient Egyptian Statue

An ancient Egyptian statue is spinning in a museum by itself and was caught on tape doing so. It's just begun to do this but does so regularly now. Awesome!!!!

I just thought I would share this with all of you. I'm sure those of you that worship the Egyptian Pantheon will love this.

And to those of you who aren't aware of other explanations for this outside of "a supernatural occurrence", then here's one;

"Paul Doherty, senior scientist at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, believes the statue's movement isn't caused by any supernatural force, but by something quite ordinary: vibrational stick-slip friction, sometimes called stick-slip vibration.

As Doherty told LiveScience, if the glass shelf on which the statue rests vibrates even slightly, "the vibrating glass moves the statue in the same direction," causing it to turn around.

An everyday example can occur when someone uses an electric blender on a kitchen countertop: The vibration of the blender can cause a nearby coffee cup to "walk" across the countertop.

But why would the statue stop moving after turning 180 degrees? Doherty believes the statue stops turning because it's asymmetrically weighted: "One side of the statue has more weight than the other side." After turning around on the shelf, the statue's uneven bottom reaches a more stable position and stops turning.

Besides the footsteps of passing museum visitors, the source of the stick-slip vibration "could be some trolley that goes by during the day, or a train that passes during the day," Doherty said."

Still pretty cool that it should happen to an Egyptian statue, of all things. :-P

Problem with that "scientific" theory is that the statue has been there for over 10 years. So why start spinning now and never before?

Because the vibrations can be caused by many things which might not have been there before; nearby traffic condition changes, construction work, and so on. Heck, I even saw somebody try and give an explanation in regards to the day-time ventilation system. Quite frankly, there's too many open possibilities, as just about everything causes some form of vibration. I certainly can't try and falsify any possible causes, but perhaps somebody(s) will in time. Who knows? :-)

i heard this on the news last night, it's interesting. while the vibration theory makes a lot of sense, why would it just randomly start after all these years and why not the other statues as well?

do i believe it's a 'curse'? no, the vibration seems like the logical conclusion, but i wouldn't rule out something spiritual at play as well because of my beliefs, either way, really interesting.

I watched the video and as you can guess by my user name I tend to favorer Egyptian mythology a little more then other. as I do hope its a deity trying to make a sign I also am looking at the logical aspect of the vibration.
my question is why after 80 years does it start to move.
my hypostasis is that perhaps its because of how much more weight we have put on from 80 years ago making are vibrations in our steps stronger.
my hope that it is a deity trying to prove its existence
