Hello, I'm new here so I thought I would contribute my knowledge, I'll start from the start and give a basic guideline. If you need any help feel free to mail me.

Meditation by Lux In Tenebris.

Meditation is the art of relaxing oneself to reach a state of consciousness in order to achieve something, in meditation there are many activities such as Yoga and Tai Chi, both are very good and effective "active meditations" you can meditate to gather energy or receive visions you can also contact spirit guides.
As it is both free and has many benefits it is a great activity, I have listed one below, this is a basic one.

1. Sit down or lie down
This is just to relax, I lie on my bed. It is truly whatever is more comfortable for you, to make meditation easier and more effective you should be comfortable.

2.begin breathing.
Also make sure to have a straight back, it helps with the breath flow. I use a four-fold breath which is in for 4, hold for 4 exhale and hold for 4 and start the cycle once again.

3. Empty your mind.
This is hard, keep practicing until you get it, the trick is to focus on one thing. I use a candle and focus on the fire.

4.relax each muscle.
Take your time, and enjoy the sensation.

5.enjoy.
You have reached a relaxation, stay as Long as you want.

It is also wise to know that in most cases while beginning meditating that if you relax to much,you can fall asleep.

It is good to beginners to start meditating while sitting with your back straight or when laying in bad to raise your arm,so if you fall asleep the arm will fall,hence awake you,this method is good for practicing deep meditations and even astral projection.
