There is rebirth. The soul is immortal. Energy is not destroyed. It only changes form.
Immortality as in eternal life does not exist however. I'd step aside from hollywood nonsense and fairy tales used primarily to justify medieval cruelty.
Immortality is fool's way. What will you succed in the future with the nonsense immortality? Let me tell you the future of immortality all your loved ones dissapering behind the curtains of time, lost happiness, mourning for your past to come back again, cry for death. This is what will happen and nothing changes in it . Be happy that your alive and be alive in the future.
Talking spiritually, we basically have 'souls'. The soul and spirit are essentially synonymous. They teach that a person essentially consists of a physical body that must die, and a soul that lives forever.The physical body, a solid form of body which obtains our soul, eventually dies and cannot be immortant if that's what you're talking about, obviously, but we have a soul which continues to exist in some form after the death of the physical body.
To say it shortly, there is a source of energy that exists within an organism (person) giving it/them life the absence of this energy causes death. This life giving energy is referred to as a soul or spirit.
It is suggested that a body can continue to exist with the use of technology but in the absence of a soul it cannot be alive. A soul is believed to exist as a shroud of pure conscious energy that is beyond physical containment or measurement. It is perceived to exist within a sphere that is beyond the purview of scientific knowledge.While a person is alive they use their brain to sense the physical world around them. When they die the functions of the brain are taken over by their immortal consciousness; the soul. The soul can leave the body while the brain shuts down from lack of oxygen. Your soul will always keep existing.
Talking genetically, your family in your future will carry on your genes, which is called 'bllod lines' or 'genetical connection'. People see it as they 'carried you with them', but this is already another thing.
Talking in a scientefic and a physical way, which is what you want to achieve, your body will always die, eventually. We have something in our bodies ( all of us as human beings ) which is called 'carbon'. The carbon that we obtain in our bodies is the only lasting material within our bodies. It has been actually scientifically proven that carbon in our bodies starts to slowly squanders in amount (going through few proccesses, talking in a scientific way) over time. So eventually all you will be be is a bunch of bones unable to move or perform any task at all, or take any specific action.
Life is just a perception. Many people would call that thing that you use to percieve the world with your "soul", but you can call it anything you'd like.
i am well aware of reincarnation and the price of immortality but i need years possibly decades to complete this quest which is well beyond my life time i have found a philosopher stone recipe but i am unaware if it will create side effects which is something i do not wish for
immortality isn't a myth how do you explain demigods, gods, etc. I learned its a part of the power called divinity also science is has cracked what makes people age so i could attempt to create that theory
You are basically starting to talk about spiritual beings which are basically associated with the existence of energy and the fact it always keeps floating around, either in the universe and either within all the living beings in the universe.
There is a little misunderstanding between things that happen in a spiritual way to things that happen physically, which might be the reason we've got a little confusion here. :)
Everything has been covered here very well by Awake and M_A. I do not really have anything to add for it.
What I can recommend you is to leave it alone, because the physical form of the human body will always die, no matter when. However, energy always keeps being around and souls keep existing after they get to be separated from the physical form of the human body.
I can give you one tip and tell you that if you want a good and a long life, you should keep having a healthy lifestyle and never forget to enjoy every moment =)
