Little past life problem?

Okay, so I've been interested in past lives for a very long time, actually since I was a child. I had dreams of two places. I think that I got to one of those places in the village my grandmother lives in... It looks quite alike the place from the dream, but the dream is about the past, so of course it's a bit different... The other place I have never seen. Then I thought about that other place a lot and all of the sudden I remembered another one, that I've also never seen.
Well anyways, since I was only about 10 when it started, I didn't do anything because I didn't know anything about past lives, but it kept repeating during the years, and I finally, after such a long time, decided to research it. So I found out about past lives, but I didn't try to see my past life. However, one time I was listening an anthem of a country in the past, for my sister's history project, and I froze when it begun, I just got up from the couch and stood there, "memories" flowing back.. I saw quite a few scenes, and I tought it was just my imagination, so I didn't think about it much. However, a few months after that, I looked at photos of the same country and events from it, people too, and I remembered being in those places, with those people, I even felt some emotions.
So I think it could be a past life, right? I wanna try a regression but I think that it wouldn't work since I already have an idea what my life could be.. I think that I will just imagine things..
How to see my real past life, and not imagine things based on what I suppose my past life was?

myself i ignore past lives because this is the one that matters [opposite to history] i do walk along sometimes and get dejavu or flashback type things. recently i was at work and i suddenly wasn't there for a minute. one moment i was leaning on my desk staring across the room, then everything was gone and i was on a boat deck. but i chalk that up to my obsession with the Titanic.

trailed off, sorry, anyway, you can try meditation, once you're in a state of relaxation, just think about that time, the farth back you go, the less colour you should see, or so i'm told. i do believe astral projection can send you into the past, but that's harder. and of course there's always regression through hypnosis. skrying might also be an option. personally, go for the meditation. just clear your mind, don't think really about the place and time, just get lost in the nothing, then things usually appear.

From some of my encounters with those who have discovered their past lives, be a bit careful. Sometimes old memories can be painful, and better forgotten. I feel that is, in large, why we forget our past lives, for the most part. Of course, some important events, or events tied into something important can be slightly or vaguely remembered, which is why these memories probably pass on. Also, remember that there is the possibility of who you were and who you are now are two different people.

Here is a book that I read, that was very informational.
Past Lives,Present Miracles- Denise Linn

Also I find using guided past life regression cds very useful.

Personally what I find when doing past life meditations is that you will never be shown anything that you can't emotionally/spiritual handle. I am not saying that it won't make you cry or upset you by seeing certain things, but it would not damage you to the point where you can't live. That is my thought.
Also I understand that sometimes we do feel like we are making things up, but the way I see it is, go ahead and make it up, it has to come from somewhere right? So why should we feel that it's not real. Also getting certain images in your head does not always mean it happened the way it was shown to you. The images you see could also stand for a metaphor of some sort.
Just my way of seeing things. Hope this helps you out a bit.
