No one will take your survey because it's too long! People who are superstitious retain superstitions from their families, whatever that culture may be. Someone of irish ancestory will pick out most irish superstitions for example.

Now in relation to some of those, like garlic and harmful spirits...magick is not a superstition. A superstition is defined as irrational belief (dictionary.com) Applying objects and ingredients for luck, protection, etc is a form of magick. A circle of protection is a magick circle, know all over the world as powerful tool and symbol. Dowsing is apart of Native American ways.

I find Friday the 13th a great day! Friday is the day of Venus. My daughter can even tell you that one. And 13...well there are many stories and legends about it, but most witches like the number.

Smell dandelions wet the bed, seems less of a superstition than saying to aid memory. "beer before liquor never sicker, liquor before beer never fear" or "red on black, venom lack, red and yellow and you're a dead fellow" pertaining to snakes. Dandelion is a diuretic and also has the nickname "pee in bed"

You're forked branch is called dowsing. There is also a rendition using rods that cross over too.

You should do some more research before writing that paper.

I can also say it is a "superstition" that eating paper wafers and drinking cheap wine is taking in the body and blood of a half man half god, but I'll be insulting Christians who see this as their "faith". I would tred lightly with that list. I hope your teacher doesn't take offense to any of those things. You need to be sure that your list is all true superstition and not religious belief and practices.

I don't believe Friday The 13th is a bad day. One time I went to the movies on that day and started stepping on as many cracks as I could find just to be funny.

I agree with you Whiterav3n, but I also disagree with you at the same time. I grew up hearing the saying, find a penny pick it up and all day you'll have good luck from my Mom and I don't think she really believed in it, it was just a fun thing to say and I'm pretty sure I learned the four leaf clover thing at school. People learn things from home but they also take that knowledge to school with them and share it with other people. My Mom never told me a four leaf clover meant good luck but, I did as a small child learn that if you blew a dandilion out with one breath and wished for something that it would come true. I also learned that if you wished on a white horse it would come true. We learn things everywhere, not just from our parents but from our school, aunts, uncles cousins, everywhere we go we learn something whether we know it or not.

WhiteRav3n.... There is truth, to every word you have said... And I respect your opinion about my Research Paper.. One does really need to look at what one makes, as a research paper... And this I believed, to the extent of what I have already done, and what I am about to do, is extending a little more of the knowledge I know about my said topic, and the opinions of other people about it..

This, that I would be receiving, would all be taken into consideration into my Final Term Paper, due after 2 more years... And earlier now, I will thank you all for the help!! And to the others, reading this message now... "I would be waiting for some of your answers to this survey" especially your opinions about it.. That would all be counted for...

I made a mistake of making this research paper a bit long... Because I havent really thought about the differences between what makes a superstition, a superstition... From the superstitions that are known to many, which is the part I am currently doing now... And, I am only taking the percentage of the: Gender, Age, and the percentage of the people who would be stating in here that they are agreeing for a certain Superstition as one of the Superstitions they believed in the most....

But over all... Thank You, for the advice...
