Hard To Believe

I am new to the site. I've only been on here a few days and I have read the threads and the chatter. I've even participated in some of the chatter and tried to help a few people in the threads.

In doing all of this, I have also read quite a few of the profiles that people have posted for themselves. Some I can totally get into until I get to the part where they are a werewolf or half vampire or some such other...'fluff'. I know this is part of what the site calls 'fluffy'. The problem I see here...is that these 'children' that actually write this 'fluff' on their profile...must really believe it...or at least hope it is so.

I came to this site hoping to be able to find some like-minded souls to continue my learning of magick, among other things and I know there are some very knowledgeable people here. Like I said, I have read quite a few of the profiles (and not all of them were claiming to be fantasy creatures.

I've read the Harry Potter and Twilight books among many others...I am a teacher. But it is FANTASY.

My question is..how do you handle this? I know its fantasy...you know its fantasy...do you just shake your head and move on?

Generally speaking, Morgaina, that's exactly what we do. It's also the primary reason that the new knowledge ranking system has been put into effect..to help identify those who know their craft, and sort out the fluffies.

Hope you stick around, as we need more mature and enlightened folks here.

I agree with Stoney up there. The site can always use another Earth bound mind adding their input and willing to learn.

Agreed with Stone. I honestly don't know what to say. I don't like to label people, but I hate role-players because to me, roleplaying is absolutely pointless and silly. It is against the rules of this site. There are quite a few beginners though in this site who are serious learners and eager to learn the Craft. And that's the reason I'm here. To help them to the best of my abilities. On the other side, there are the role-players. For some reason they just won't accept that thing called reality. I receive mails like " Make me a vampire/werewolf/mermaid,superman/batman" " I'm a demon and my experience level is 16", etc etc etc. Usually, I get back to them and I simply explain that that's nothing but fa-nta-sy. Most of them get really nasty at me, and they keep persisting that they're right, that they're in fact demons or whatever they claim to be.

They just won't listen , no matter how hard you try to explain to them what is real and what is not. They won't listen and I'm already tired of this. I'm 23. Ok? We were all kids. But we weren't like that. At first I'm patient and when they start claiming that they're all these beings, I simply try to explain to them, that this cannot be true. Simple as that. Some of them will listen, and they'll care to hear what you have to say. The past 24 hours I heard about "hair-kinesis, controlling the elements , trapping elves, keeping demons as pets, and the list goes on and on and on". I could write several books with all their "stories". But the point is... what can we do ? Behold here's the question. I help only the people who are serious learners . I'm not going to help anybody who doesn't want to accept the reality for a reason. What do you guys think?

it depends on you perception of vampirism. a vampire can also be considered one who steals spiritual energy. the full moon also has been linked to a higher crime rate on the full moon nights, making it possible that the lunar position has an effect on a magnetic field encouraging bad behavior. you are not wrong, but the problem is the many different beliefs on the subject. if they were saying the full moon turned them in to a furry dog esq creature, or that they kill people for blood, either they are somewhat mentally nuts or are trying to fool children into thinking that actually happens.

Seriously I think we get it -_- lately this kind of debate has been dominating the forums....
but we do have to consider the fact that there are a lot, a lot of people on this site and not everyone may share the same beliefs..... I do admit that this whole fluffy thing has been going a bit over board. I mean I believe in vampires and werewolves etc. etc. but I don't think a real vampire or werewolf would be on this site telling everyone that they're a vampire I mean thats just dumb, I'm sure vampire and werewolves have better things to do.

..... wow off track.

But can I just say this site is meant to bring magick practitioners together and share knowledge and teach others etc. You'd think people who practices magick have an open mind but from what I've seen not really. You know there are religions and cultures in the wide world who believes in vampiric spirits and possessed humans who I suppose resemble werewolves in a way.
If you really have something against them just ignore them for crying out loud. Tell them to leave you alone. There's not point in trying to change them, if it works it works, if they're being stubborn then thats their fault so just ignore them. Its their loss 0.0
