You don't need a mentor to get started in magic.

All you need is to be willing to read; which having a mentor here is what you'd end up doing anyway.

I suggest you ask for a mentor when you have a good idea as to what specific practice/path you want to take up; it's easier for people to teach when they know where you're headed.

Just read up on your basics, including:
Meditation
Grounding
Centering
Energy Flow
Basic Spell Casting (how it's done)
Chakra Balancing and Cleansing
And possibly, even your common or typical stones and herbs as well as their properties (what they're used for).

There are other reasons that a witch wouldn't be able to cast a spell. Not having the right ingredients or not having enough of them is only a minor set back that can easily be overcome.
Perhaps writing your own spell that doesn't call for the ingredients you don't have...

I'll say it again just because I can,
''The best spell is a spell that you create yourself''.

Truthfully we're all beginners in some way (not knowing about everything) so no sweat; you'll do fine as long as your willing to work for it.

Very well constituted Lady Snow ^^ Also Wicca acknowledges the polarity of the Divine, which means that both the male and female deities are often honored. A Wiccan may honor simply a non-specific god and goddess, or they may choose to worship specific deities of their tradition, whether it be Isis and Osiris, Cerridwen and Herne, or Apollo and Athena. In Gardnerian Wicca, the true names of the gods are revealed only to initiated members, and are kept secret from anyone outside the tradition.
