Cats and magic.

Hello,
I was curious, when practicing magic, does it make your spells/rituals more effective if you have a cat around? Or is this just an old wives tale with the witches and their cats.
Thank you

It is considered to be an old wives tale, however, some people feel more 'powerful' so to speak when they have an animal that they know and love around. You never know, but most people don't think cats amplify magick in any way (at least in this context).

Ah, thank you Scrupulous. ^_^ I ask because one of my spirit animals is a clouded leopard, so I though would this have any effect with my spells/rituals.

Thanks again.

If you work with your spirit animal often, then yes it could have an effect. I was saying the above was a wives tail because i believe it is a little proposterous that when you are doing spell work, and a cat just happens to walk by or be in the room, it makes your spells more powerful. Ridiculous

personally i leave Gir in another room because he's nuts [either the name or my friends theory all Ginger Bengals are nuts] it's safer if you've got a hyperactive animal who gets into stuff to not let them near the circle. if you've got a lazy cat who naps, and you feel having him/her around enhances your power, then sure. people believed a couple animals were witches in disguise or they were their familiar who aided them in spells. while yes, you can have an animal familiar, it's not always your pet cat, it could be your pet hamster, or a squirrel you pass every day who seems to follow you, or a friends dog, so on. i think the only time you really need the cat is if you're doing a blessing for it.

Greetings Hon,

If you have an animal that you are closely bonded to and love completely they could add their own special energy to the ritual and allow your spells/rituals to be slightly stronger. Though no stray animal walking by will haveeffectiveness of the spell/ritual go up.

Brightest Blessings
