Does timing matter?

I was reading a book about spellcasting, and it said it's best to plan certain spells to be cast based on the planetary hours and days, in addition to the moon phases and all the other timing and magickal correspondences. Have you noticed that there's a difference when casting certain spells at certain times?
I was also curious about what people think about the "dark" and "void-of-course" moons. Are those bad times to do spellwork?

Yes.Effectiveness of spells also rely on different correspondences like moon phases, day, place, planetary positions and etc. It does matters.Even the spell caster's experience/magickal energy also affects the outcome of the spell/ritual you've performed.^_^
Goodluck.

What I think, is that it doesn't matter. Magic is always there, and planets do not affect it. However, if you think magic is more powerful at certain positions of the moon, your belief gets a boost, and it's more likely to work.

There is only something wrong with the dark moon phase if you believe there is. The phases do seem to impact the energy that is sent out or drawn in. That does not mean you cannot cast. I would suggest you use them more as a guide for what type of spell you should be casting. For instance, you would not want to cast a spell to draw a loved one closer to you during the dark moon. That moon share is more for pushing things away. Regardless, follow what your gut tells you and foot jump to believe anything that you feel is wrong :)

It depends. I wouldn't cast a love spell during a waning moon either, but I did make a good luck charm before going into a casino on a Saturday afternoon during a waning moon and my ex and I actually both won money.
