Wal-Mart has a large variety of herbs in both seed and plant form, and the products that you would need to start your garden (plant food, potting soil, garden tools, etc.) If you can't find a good local nursery you could try looking there.

When searching for plant nurseries, you could try doing a Google search or flip through your yellow pages.

As far as good beginner herbs go, I would personally suggest the following: basil, mint, sage, lavender, parsley, and chamomile. There are various others that you could work with, but I've found these seem to be the easiest to grow and care for. However, mint is very aggressive and if not planted in a flower pot or separate from the rest of your herbs it will take over your garden and eventually choke out your other plants.

Blessings,
Loni

I agree getting some at Walmart. I do, and they are still growing! Easy ones are mint, sage, rosemary, oregano, thyme, and chamomile. When the flowers of chamomile are through, carefully take them off and you will have many seeds fore the next season. I just put them back with the plants and news one comes up when the next growing season starts. Good luck with your garden.

go to a garden center specializing in herbs, not walmart or some big name store. the plants they get aren't the greatest and aren't as hardy as others. a greenhouse has people who know what plants go best together, how much light/water/temperature they needs and so on. you should get a plant, if you're starting out and never grew anything before, don't start from seed, it takes a lot of work. start with plants you feel you use most, or plants that work best in your area.

I'd start with Wal-Mart or Ace Hardware (They always have a tent of flowers and other stuff every summer) both have a ton of seeds or almost everything during the summer

If you're looking for a certain herb then message me and I'll be able to find it in your area because there was never been an herb no matter where I am that I can't find

personally i do not like wal-mart for my plant needs seeing as they are a big comercial company who just ships in plants every time of the year so almost every plant is dead. (luckily i have a great green thumb and can easily help the plants get healthy again) but if you ddont i suggest trying a local nursery.
