Moon/sun water indoors

Is it mandatory to leave moon/sun water outside? I'm currently gonna be in an apartment for quite some time, and it doesn't have a balcony. Could I just leave it at the window? Would that affect/change it in any way?

Leaving it at the window is an excellent alternative and won't damage or change the water in any way. Just make sure there's plenty of sun/moonlight, and you're good to go.

As long as the sun/moon light touches the window sill it should still work fine c:
