Incorrectly Ranked

Hey this is mainly just a message to all moderators/publishers and editors or anyone with knowledgeable or adept status; I came onto my profile after being accepted into Penta magic and discovered that I have a 'Novice' reputation bar on my profile. As much as this is nice, it isn't true. I am new to this site and to the study of magic itself. To rank me as this when I haven't even gone to beginner is an inaccurate description of what I know. What I cannot fathom is what on earth could have made a person with a 'knowledgeable' or 'adept' status want to rate me.

I don't feel anywhere near deserving of this title, but its not just the deserving part is also a worry that, what if a member sent me a message asking for advice on a given problem, I'm not going to be capable of answering or helping the person out except on some basic human level. Although I'm not complaining, all i'm asking is that my rank be removed because its not right that I have one yet and its sending an invalid statement to the other members.

Additionally could the person or persons who rated me please send me a message to say that it was them, and to perhaps explain why they felt that I deserved a ranking, which I cannot figure out why for the life of me why someone of such credit would rank me in this way when I haven't contributed as much as what other people will have done. I'm sorry if this seems like a complaint, but I have said at one time or another since joining that a rank wasn't what I was after here.

I suspect that the level of maturity demonstrated in this post is why you were ranked so highly.

Thankyou Lark! I feel a little rescued now And yes I am just a member here, just as deserving of a rank as any other. But now I see a little more about what this ranking system means, its not just about how much you know. But how you conduct and hold yourself according to what knowledge you have!

I'm not sure if you intended to sound this way, but your post seems a bit sarcastic, Winchester.

She felt like she did not deserve the rank she had, and admiting that takes courage. I think it's safe to say that if a newbie received a high rank, they would keep quiet about it.

Although they are rare, some people are honest enough to admit such things. I can see where they could seem sarcastic here, I believe they could have truly admitted.

Thanks guys, its also really about promoting a good level of equality on the site. Although I think in a lot of fairness after observation of various posts, much of what takes place on the site are misunderstandings rather than inequalities, I mean these are just words on a screen so it is hard for people to tell what is the meaning behind what's being said because there is no emotional content to hear. But we are human and we can't be perfect, not even this site. But all of us I feel do our best to make it as good as it can be :)
