Confusing Tarot Result

With an old friend of mine giving me a tarot reading, neither of us having too much experience with it came into some confusion. My friend was doing a Horseshoe-type tarot reading to answer the general question of 'How will my future progress?' and for the third from the left card (Positive Influences to the question) I received the 10 of Swords. From all the knowledge both my friend and I had of that card we could not understand how this quite negative card could be referring to positive influences in a horseshoe setup. If possible interpretations could be messaged to me it would be very appreciated thank you.

It's difficult to explain specific results of your spread without knowing how you particularly would normally interpret the 10 of Swords compared to other cards. However I can offer you this, sometimes negative influences can inspire positive change. For example something tragic may happen to a forest which might inspire you to plant a tree or start work on a community garden.

Thank you Dackson I think that has caused me to understand the reading a lot more as well as what someone had messaged me.

Usually the 10 of swords represents some sort of metaphorical back-stabbing or betrayal via intellect or tongue.
Everything happens for a reason, I believe.
I don't know you or your situation but just based on my experience and knowledge of Tarot....A card like this could possibly mean a person (or people) in your life might be about to show their true colors, which is good because maybe you'll be better off without them.
Or maybe it could mean that some sort of idea/theory you've been working on will be shot down by the intellect of others working against you, which could be good because maybe now you'll have a clean slate for an even better idea.

Does that make any sense to your situation?

Thank you psmith as a fatalist myself that was the result I had figured from the 10 of Swords with the assistance of some other people, I already see how it could be coming into place and I am changing my actions to be benefited as much as possible, a very thorough reading I can now interpret.
