I want so badly to believ

But I am filled with doubt. I was told that if you don't believe that magic will work that it will not. Have you ever wanted something so much but the more you tried to attain it the more it runs away from you?? How come some things come so naturally and effortlessly to some while others try very hard but the Universe doesn't hear their cries?

Every Human Being has doubts; at least most do! The man who has no doubts is an idiot!

Magick is rarely about the universe. Sure, magick is in the universe, but the (will)power and focus to practice magick is within you.
And you do not need to believe for magick to work. In fact, what is worse than anything is lusting after results. So those that believe and believe and focus and want and desire and dream...are obsessing and will likely mess up the casting. It's about doing what you need to do and forgetting about it! So chill out, sit a spell or two, and don't forget to learn your basics!
Stay away from the fantasy spell section. Those are not attainable things. They were written by people that know nothing about magick. They are in a section of their own so that people can view what is fictional.

Magick is like prayer. Some prayers do get answered and some don't.
Of course you have to have faith in order to pray otherwise whats the whole point?

Personally, the first time I ever did a work of magic I never thought it would work. But my mother is Wiccan, and one day we were talking about that kind of thing.
I ended up trying a love spell (NOT a good idea, ever!!!!) but the crazy thing is, it worked wonderfully. Of course, I ended up reversing the spell soon afterwards because it didn't feel right. But ever since then I've never had another doubt.

I didn't invoke any deity and I wrote it myself, which shocks me more than anything.

Consider trying small things first. Don't try to move the sun backward in the sky - do a divination to see if you will need a sweater on your picnic. Try to make a cup of coffee come into your life without buying it at the store, or or do a spell to help you sleep better or wake up on time.

Try doing little things just for fun, and you may begin to believe you can do more.

I believe magic is natural for humans, but like walking we aren't born good at it. To continue the analogy, any healthy person can learn to walk if they don't mind falling down a few times, but it takes a little giftedness and a whole lot of training to become a marathon runner.

Sometimes it might be best to simply trying it on something you would like but can do without. This may make you less concerned about results and makes you detaching easier.

I'm skeptical of pretty much everything including, at times, magic and I've had plenty of success with spells. Don't worry about having doubt. Just relax, try out some small and safe spells and have fun with it.

I doubt myself too but pushing doubt down and focussing the energy and intent is the key. When I fail I try again and once more for good measure. After three tries I figure it is not meant to be accomplished by magic. Some things must be gained by the sweat of the brow. Meaning you must accomplish them physically not magically. Magic can still enrich your life even if you never cast one successful spell. :-)
