Maybe if an account is inactive for so many years the account could be deleted to free up some of the cool usernames that are just sitting there :D

Once a username is taken there is no getting it back or putting it in the pool for someone else to use. You will just have to settle for a different variation.

What if it was their account. They were gagged, deleted the account and used a different email but the same username? How long does it take an email adress to drop from the system once the account is deleted? 6-9 months?

Why would you want someone elses name. You should just create your own name that reflects you. :-)

Brite, it doesn't matter. Unless that person is not gagged and deletes their account, you will never be able to take their username. Beyond that, I'd rather have an original name than take someone else's.

There are a few reasons why this is not done.

One. The member may come back.

Two. If this is done, and the member has a bad reputation, would you want that bad reputation as well?

Three. It's better to have your own original name.

I know I've tried to make a name before and gone, "Aw, dang." (not exactly those words) and I just had to think of a new name.
