So I'm making a music video that has to do with a main character being haunted in a room. The main character will be writing on the floor in chalk for protection. I know this is loose but I came here because I dont know anything about actual spells and I want the video to be legit.
So far Im leaning towards greek spells, so please, share your knowledge with me on what spells can simply be written, background and meaning of things.
Well that's cool and I like how you want to be authentic with the magic. The only symbols used for protection that can be done with a chalk is a circle and a pentacle. With Hoodoo you use sachet powder to draw the symbols of any of the 7 powers or an X for hexing. Although in hoodoo, they have things similar to chalk, so I guess you can use chalk in your music video to draw one of the symbols. Well that goes for hoodoo and white magic as for greek magic, I'm not familiar with it.
hmmm a circle and pentacle eh? Im afraid Im gonna need more things to write with. In modern day (spellcasting?) can different sources be mixed? Is it legit to take from multiple sources?
You can draw one of the african powers instead, since there symbols are a little complex. I recommend obatala symbol for protection though. Wiccan is a religion and doesn't use outside saints and voodoo/hoodoo is not formally a religion, so it's sometimes combined with catholic saints. As combining those two, it's a bit odd, since your using different saints and gods. But, it's possible.
Interesting. well I dont want anything too difficult to draw. Originally, the idea was having the main character draw symbols in a spiral, starting from the outside and working inward. Now after reading some stuff here, it looks like circles make more sense. Maybe writing an ouside circle and working on inner ones. The video is going to be very frantic in nature. Let me know if this sounds wrong or stupid since Im not very familiar with any of this. But you said before that a pentacle could work, and if Im drawing in circles, would a pentacle have any synergy there?
well usually you cast one circle before a spell and this is where your energy is focused in. You can possibly have the character draw a huge circle in the room and a pentacle is the circle with a star inside.
I'm trying to make this a little more theatrical. Since its frantic, the idea was to have the main character racing to finish for protection. If theres not much drawing involved, it wont make the video look good. So I guess what Im looking for is something easy to draw so the actor doesnt have to memorize too much, something that takes a lot of space that cant be finished too quickly, and for it to be legit. I know thats a lot to think about, but so far youre being a big help. So if you'd like to help me map this out, id really appreciate it
