Casting a cirlce basics

I know how I cast a circle, but Im looking to do something a little different this time and am curious what everyone else does to see which parts are nessicary or at least widely accepted, and which parts seem to be up to the caster preference. For example i really like candles to line out my circle, it helps me visualize, but are they required? probably not. so from beginning to end what does everyone think the MINIMAL circle would be?
I personally(and again i want everyones opinions) would include
the 4 elements and directions
clearing the space
Dedicating the space
closing the space

like I said that is rather minimal, what do others feel about this?

I study Ceremonial and Kabalistic magic, so I use the LBRP as a basic opening and closing. Now, if I am working with Egyptian deities or some other godform I will tailor the ritual to match their tradition.

Just as side note on the minimal opening of a circle. There is a technique I was taught after Adeptus Minor where you cast a circle, or perform a ritual like the LBRP, and create an anchor for it in the subconscious. Then, when you collapse the anchor the effect automatically occurs. I keep the LBRP, Middle Pillar and Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram on what I joking refer to as "speed dial". :)

When I cast a circle... the ritual is purely visualization; I call each element and picture a colored flame (purple normally but red if i am doing something with fire... something like that.) in the place on the circle that is for that element. once all the elements have been called i seal the circle by picturing a colored circle (same colored used for the flames), clean it of negativity, and seal it from negativity. then i begin to meditate.

As long as you can visualize where necessary and see the energy that you are evoking any ritual or method for casting a circle is fine. The "As above so below" concept is the foundation for useing actual physical items for the outline of your circle. If you need them to help you visualize then use them but no they are not needed. If you can do it in your mind then it will work just fine. You can use candles, stones, salt, leaves, anything you want too. You can even use runes to outline the circle but I think that is a little more advanced since you need to know the associations and all of that.

The minimal circle casting is one done in your mind through visulization, by adding physical refferances you increase the power of your circle.

I use a brick-dust circle,
(which is a very powerful protection that only allows spirits with good intentions to cross.) and I use enchanted candles that form a powerfull circle of protection when lit to help fortify my magick circle

Making brick-Dust
Used for powerful selective barier that will only allow spirits/entities of good intentions to cross

Using a hammer, or somethink to the likes of one,
break apart bricks until it is a fine powder.
use the brick-dust powder to make a circle
and/or put lines at doors, windows, portals, etc

(may want to use a mortar and pestal to make it finer)

blood-magick alternative to Brick-Dust,

1 liter of water,
2 tablespoons of blood
and one tablespoon of salt,
mix and use to draw barrier,

i put it in a spray bottle for ease of use,
warning this will stain and may be unsanitary
it also greatly helps if it is your own blood you use

Moonbeam,

LBRP is the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. It is one of the first things you learn in ceremonial magic.
