Herbal-gardening basics

Hi,
I would like to just say that I have recently joined the cite, and that I am relatively new to online forums. So know that I have put that out in the open it may be easier for you all to cretic me.

********************************************************************************************
HERBAL-GARDENING BASICS:
First of all I have owned two magic herb shops, however they closed due to finical short comings. This means, I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT! I would now start my informational topic below. )0(

You don't need an enormous backyard our huge coin purse, a herbal garden can be just as successful on a window sill as in the dirt in your backyard. The most important part though, is that you must tend to your garden!! It will need some attention but not so much as to smother it.

STORE BOUGHT HERBS:
If you buy herbs from Wal-Mart, or any other huge commercial chain (yes HEB counts as a commercial chain for us Texans) they will not blossom or seed because they have been genetically modified to not do that. They do this because when your plants die, they make profit. Same with store bought seeds.

READ ONLINE FOR PLANT CHARACTERISTICS:
Not all plants grow the same, just like not any two people grow the same. Some plants require less sunlight and very little water and some need lots of sunlight and lots of water***keep this in mind when planting in a backyard*** If you buy plants from Lowes or Home Depot they will give you instructions on your plant or seed pack.

CHECK FOR SOIL TYPES**backyard gardeners only**
If you live in different areas your soil may not be native to certain plants. If you live on a delta like me you may have very clay filled soil. Make sure to check before sticking a plant into your dirt. When worst comes to worst keep certain plants in their pots.

HARVESTING:
I suggest that if you are a beginning herbalist don't go for plants with roots with magical properties go for leaf harvesting. However only cut a few at a time or your plant will die. Oh! I also suggest sampling your herbs before making them into a tea!
********************************************************************************************
That is all for now
Blessed Be!
