Astral Projection

I'm new to magick and this keeps coming up. I wrote about it, but did it from a fictional (fantasy) perspective. How real is astral projection? What does it involve? In my mind, "real" astral projection doesn't involve the actual moving of a physical being, but maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks for the feedback. I had a feeling it was something more like that. It sounds pretty cool, I look forward to learning more. And maybe even experimenting. I'm not very good with meditation (I always fall asleep) so I don't know if I could pull it off.
