Does anyone here know if Budge is a good and accurate source for Egyptian magick? Thanks!

It is worth the read but Budge is contriversial. His translations are questioned and scholars usually disclaim his work. But to get a sense of what egyptian magic was like, I believe it is a good start. It has the opening of the mouth ritual in there, which is a very important one. In his time, it was amazing stuff and the current understanding. Of course, as time went by, it became outdated because it is Egyptology after all. It's a constant study.

Thanks a ton! I found an e-book copy online of....I think it was called, Egyptian Magic, and I wasn't sure if I ought to read it. I just got through reading his, The Legends of the Gods, which I thought was perfectly fine, but while I was reading it I was looking something up online and someone on one of the sites said that Budge had mistranslated the Egyptian Book of the Dead and...well, all it takes is one bad thing to be said and then I start questioning. I wasn't questioning how good the book was I was reading already, but...I just didn't know how much I should trust him otherwise. This helps, though. Thanks! I'll go check that out!

Sir Budge was a curator at the British Museum. He specialized in the Egyptian artifacts for decades, having started as a mere assistant in the department.

"Scholars" may argue his translations and opinions, but his view is a very well grounded ACADEMIC one, not that of a magick user.
