Understanding crystals

This is more of an article about crystals than a post, it also is a short summary cause otherwise this would become more of an online book lol.

Now let's begin!

Crystals have been around since the start of this planet, different chemicals came together to create different rocks, minerals and crystals. Now most people pick up a crystal and desire its pretty colours and its extraordinary design, because each crystal is unique in their own way. For example: shape, texture, colour, value and rarity. All this determines how much money you may spend on a particular one.

Why witches use crystals?

For generations witches have used crystals for: protection, love, blessing, healing, grounding , cleansing and meditation. But also jewellery and ornaments. But as you guys know crystals have a way of picking us. For example: Blue agate is used for meditation as a divine way of communication, but what if I sense protection from this stone? Well in this case you sense a liking to the crystal which makes you feel safe, hence why you could use it for protection. Below are some crystals and their magical properties:

Tourmaline = Filters bad energy and turns it into positive energy, also used for healing. All this makes this stone a valuable protection crystal.

Rose quarts: mainly everything to do with love and forgiveness.

Geode: is like a cave for amethyest stones to develop, really is one of my favourite crystals. Mainly used for fertility, grounding and protection, but I also find this crystal very relaxing.

I thank you all for taking your time to read this I could write a lot more but I'm just keeping it short and sweet. I really love using crystals there one main reason I do witchcraft there colours are just magnificent let alone their design :)

I also find that individual crystals can have individual energies, much like they have individual qualities.

For instance, I connect really well to bloodstone, although I do not work with the written energies of the stone, but rather with the energies and uses I get from the stone.

Also I find little rocks found on the side of the road or old seashells found on a beach helpful as well. These do not necessarily have a set list of properties and uses (especially the stones found on the side of the road), and because of this the individual is not inclined to assign meaning to the stone, but rather to feel the stone for how it is.

I like to think of them as personal gifts from mother earth or the universe or perhaps some unnamed force because you happen upon these accidentally. I usually go through a method of looking at everything and nothing at once and rather than look for the stones, I look for nothing. When I find something that makes me snap out of the state I'm in I pick it up. Needless to say, I end up with a lot of rocks in my pockets.

But don't forget to cleanse these little beauties.

I love the way crystals talk to us and makes you chose them. For example I picked up a small pebble when I was five and I've never thrown it out. I have a small collection of all different sizes. Also another thing I like is that crystals have been around at the start of the universe, which is older than any antique :)

I have stones from all over the country. Some that came from gold mines, some that were just sitting on the side of the road, some from creeks, some I don't know what they are, some from museums, some from hillsides, some from everywhere. And somehow I managed not to lose but a few of them. Lol.

I buy some from stores. When I do so I use a wandering technique to find the ones that call out to me. I wander about the store and look at everything, and whatever draws me I keep in mind when I go back through the store. I handle what draws me and of course look at the price tag. If I like the feel of the stone and the price I buy it. When I'm there for a particular purpose I keep the purpose in mind while I search.

Others may have other ways of finding what they need though. Lol.
